Course Objectives
Mindfulness has, in recent decades, had widespread application both in clinical and non-clinical contexts (e.g. schools, companies). Its application in promoting well-being has progressively gained greater acceptance, both in individual and organizational terms. Mindfulness is a practice that can be carried out by individuals and groups on a daily basis and which has an underlying body-mind integrative vision.
In a highly competitive and task-focused world, it allows for a different experience of stress-inducing situations.
The initial Mindfulness training follows the protocol of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program – MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). MBSR is an experiential program, organized in group sessions, that cultivates a state of intentional attention, focused on the present moment, without judgment.
In this context, the Scientific-Pedagogical Unit of Medical, Social and Human Sciences of the Higher School of Health Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (ESTeSC-IPC) presents the Mindfulness and Well-being course – initial training, a course developed with the promoting the well-being of participants.
