Biology I

Learning Results

The learning objective of this Curricular Unit includes the introduction to the diversity of living organisms, namely cell structure and physiology, heredity mechanisms, plant histology and the bases for systematics. It is intended that the student acquire competences on the various levels of biological organization of organisms.

Program

The contents to be addressed are as follows: 1. Cytology and methods of study; 2. Systematics bases of living beings; 3. Comparative study of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells; 4. Heritability and evolution; 5. Histology and plant anatomy; 6. Groups of microorganisms: viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa.
