Teaching Methodologies

An interrogative and interactive methodology will be used prior to the lecture of the main contents and concepts, and demonstration / illustration of them through their practical application in real-world situations and, whenever justified, using audiovisual media.
In the practical component of the course, the class will be divided into groups, in order to allow the performance of role-play, simulation of the clinical context and other methodologies that allow the effective training of skills. These activities require a small number of students.
Students will be evaluated on the theoretical-practical and practical components continuously and through written test, knowledge assessment, summative, comprising questions that assess the extent and depth of knowledge acquired in the discipline and the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world situations in the scientific area of the course.

Learning Results

The student must acquire knowledge about:
• Health communication skills;
• Behaviors, health and illness;
• Counseling competencies in audiology.
The student must develop skills to:
• Implement appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication strategies with patients, other professionals and the general public;
• Understand the basic psychosocial aspects related to health promotion, disease prevention and overcoming, understanding and adherence to treatment and rehabilitation;
• Analyze and interpret the link between communication, behavior, emotions and health status.
The student must acquire skills to:
• Communicate and interact properly, in your professional context;
• Conduct a motivational interview;
• Motivate and actively promote health behaviors;
• Identify and deal with negative emotions and stress, being an active agent in promoting your health and the well-being of patients.
• Deal properly with the patient and his family, in the context of audiology.
