Teaching Methodologies
Theoretical and practical lessons in the classroom, through the use of power-point presentations and videos relating to the matters addressed.
Practical lessons in the Horse-riding arena, with outdoor practical lessons and simulation of Equestrian Tourism activities in the forest zone of ESAC.
Learning Results
1. To know how the horse on it´s main morfologic and behavior aspects
2. To know the main demand needed for the maintenance of the horse
3. To master basic horse riding techniques
4. To know the application of equestrian touristic activities: horse riding and Equine tourism.
Program
1. Study of the exterior of the horse: different regions of the body; the coats. 2. Main breeds of horses in Portugal: Lusitano, Sorraia and Garrano. 3. Main behavior reactions: social, mathernal and sexual behavior. 4. Main standards of housing. 5. Main standards of nutrition. 6. Main standards of sanitation. 7. Horse riding and horse management. 8. The use of the horse in sports and leisure.
