Cell Biology and organic chemistry (basic)
Teaching Methodologies
Expository method using audiovisual media. Also includes the independent study research on the contents
exposed. The assessment is made by two written frequencys (50%/50%), with a minimum grade of 8 values. There
is also a written exam normal time at the end of the semester and exam. Approval is obtained in the discipline with
a rating equal to or higher than 10, resulting from the sum of the marks obtained in various stages of evaluation.

Knowing the structural and functional aspects of the macromolecules of the cell as a structural and functional unit
of the body; understand the key biochemical reactions and enzyme kinetics of the cell; understand key metabolic
pathways and mechanisms of energy conversion

Organic components of the cell; Amino acids: acid-base properties; proteins; Enzymes and catalysis mechanisms;
Nucleic acids: DNA mutations in proteins and their involvement; lipids; carbohydrates; Isomerism of oses;
Bioenergetics. Cell metabolism; Metabolic pathways (aerobic and anaerobic); The citric acid cycle; Respiratory
chain and oxidative phosphorylation; Inhibitors of the respiratory chain; Absorption, transport and digestion;
Carbohydrate metabolism: Glycolysis; gluconeogenesis; Pentose-phosphate; glycogenolysis; glycogenesis; Lipid
metabolism; Biosynthesis of fatty acids and triglycerides; Cholesterol metabolism; Biosynthesis of steroid
hormones; Bile acid biosynthesis; Metabolism of proteins; Urea cycle; Integration of metabolism; Metabolic liver,
brain, muscle and adipocytes; Metabolic adaptations: short and prolonged fasting; Slow or moderate exercise;
Intense physical exercise.
