Successful completion of the preceding CU of History and Heritage is recommended.
Teaching Methodologies
The course unit will be taught using a PowerPoint based presentation by the teacher, discussion of issues in class, presentation and discussion of case studies, practical work and study visits.
Learning Results
1. Know the concept, theoretical principles and main means of heritage interpretation;
2. Identify conceptual similarities and differences between interpretation and museology, as well as between the respective institutions and support infrastructures (e.g. museums, ecomuseums, interpretation centres, etc.);
3. Assess the potential of cultural or natural heritage for the implementation of interpretation projects, taking into account public policies, legislation and applicable support instruments;
4. Apply techniques and interpretation tools appropriate to specific situations
5. Develop simple plans for interpretation of cultural or natural heritage
6. Use interpretation programs in natural, cultural and recreational areas for the promotion of educational processes.
