Management of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy

Teaching Methodologies

The teaching of the Management of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy Departments UC is organised in sessions with 30 hours total.
The teaching methodology seeks to promote active and participatory learning, with essential reading of basic texts and discussion of topics or exercises.
In general, each session will start with a presentation by a teacher. This is followed by a plenary or group discussion of topics related to the topic under analysis.
• Work – 70% of the evaluation
• Presentation and Discussion – 30% of the evaluation

Learning Results

Knowledge:
• In-depth information on quality management systems;
• Dedicated to the organisation type and how it is reflected in the practical management of IMR departments.
• In-depth study of clinical governance modes in health units and the responsibilities inherent to the coordination of services in the area of IMR.
Skills:
• Putting into practice the principles inherent to Reference Centers and Integrated Responsibility Centers;
• Outline the steps of the Decision Making Process;
• Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and effectiveness in terms of the performance of the various Internal chains of a Health organisation;
Competences:
• Promote the fight against waste and the sustainability in IMR departments;
• Apply critical thinking about the goals of an accreditation and certification system;
• Establish a plan to promote the safety culture with a view to the effectiveness of results;

Program

• Management of public and private medical imaging and radiotherapy departments;
• Legal framework of mandatory requirements for the operation and management of services that use ionising radiation;
• Management of technological, human and consumable resources in accordance with good and safety practices against ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
• Strategies for planning, organising and optimising scheduling in different modalities.
