Pharmacy Aseptic Technology

Base Knowledge

Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics

Organization and functioning of the hospital and community pharmacy

Teaching Methodologies

1. The theoretical component comprises more expository classes using audiovisual means but promoting interactivity between teacher and students;

2. The practical component is based on practical simulation work on the preparation of chemotherapy protocols, parenteral nutrition and other aseptic protocols.

Learning Results

It is intended that at the end of this course the students have acquired abilities in planning and structuring of compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations services, combining the financial/to quality and safety in the handling and preparation of galenic formulations economic aspects.

Identify the skills and procedures of aseptic techniques that lead to quality at all stages of handling non-sterile and sterile medicines.
Identify the assumptions that underlie the assessment of patients on Chemotherapy and Parenteral Nutrition.
Awareness and responsibility for the high degree of complexity of some activities associated with handling cytotoxic and parenteral nutrition.
Identify all stages of handling and preparation of parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy protocols.
Adequately aseptic techniques for preparing intravenous admixtures in the hospital pharmacy service.
