Teaching Methodologies
To achieve the objectives of the curricular unit the teaching methodologies are based on:
1. Presentation by the professor of contents related to the theoretical aspects of this curricular unit;
2. Demonstration by the professor of practices related to the curricular unit, particularly in small animals and horses;
3. Execution by the students of practices previously demonstrated by teachers.
4. Bibliographical research oriented on important themes for the curricular unit.
Learning Results
The aim of this Curricular Unit is to provide the student with knowledge and skills related to the rehabilitation of animals after an injury, and the different ways to perform physiotherapy in different animal species, namely regarding bone, joint, muscle, neurological, and even skin rehabilitation. It has as learning objectives:
To know the healing process of different tissue types;
To understand the importance of rehabilitating the animal in its well-being;
To know different ways to obtain patient rehabilitation after different types of injury;
To Know how physiotherapy can be applied to patients of different species in order to rehabilitate them;
To carry out rehabilitation and physiotherapy actions in patients, according to the veterinary diagnosis and the prescribed treatment.
Program
1. The healing process of different types of tissues, particularly bone tissue, joint tissue, muscle tissue, neurological tissue, and integumentary tissue; 2. Importance of rehabilitation of the patient for their quality of life and well-being; 3. Ways to achieve patient rehabilitation after injury; 4. Different ways to apply physiotherapy, in different animal species, in the rehabilitation of the patient.
