Teaching Methodologies

There will be different methods of evaluation along the course depending on the topic.
For the grammar explanations, the chosen method is the direct clarification through the teacher’s explanation
or through language activities; for the practice of skills and for the activities and tasks exercises, a more
communicative method will be used.
Evaluation:
The students can choose between one of these evaluation models:
Continuous: Participation and papers (25%), two partial examinations (25% each) and an oral examination
(25%). Students must attend 75% of the classes;
Final: Written examination (75% and an oral examination (25%)

Learning Results

To acquire basic skills for the oral and written communication in Spanish;
To develop these skills, using the knowledge they have and in contexts adapted to their language level;
To understand, orally and in writing, instructions and explanations of everyday life;
To know basic everyday life vocabulary: hobbies, the house, physical and psychological states, the family, etc;
To ask for and give information;
To argue and to justify in simple contexts;
To describe objects, people, activities and personal preferences;
To be familiar with the Spanish pronunciation;
To know labour life basic vocabulary: invoices, slips, furniture and consumables;
To know some false friends to avoid making mistakes of understanding and production;
To know some aspects of the Spanish culture which may help to have a better understanding of certain
aspects of this language, so that learning easier.

Direct and indirect object pronouns;
Pret+érito perfeito;
Pretérito pluscuamperfecto;
Futuro imperfecto;
Conditional;
Regular and irregular use and morphology of the present subjunctive;
The Imperative;
Punctuation;
Prepositions: por, para, según, etc.
Verbal circumlocutions.
Thematic content and lexic
The future;
Tales and stories of the past;
Agenda;
Telephone calls;
Correspondence, notes and messages;
Treatment abbreviations;
Treatment formulas;
Invoices, receipts and slips;
Time and space referents;
False friends;
Applying for a job: curriculum vitae, presentation letters and work interviews.
