Teaching Methodologies

The classes assume a dynamic character, integrating:

1) combination of systematic expositions of information and knowledge with critical analyses, based on practical exercises;

2) elaboration of a research initiation project.

Learning Results

1. Know the fundamentals of scientific research and the different types of research methodologies.

2. Identify problems, build and support a research project.

3. Critically analyze the various data collection and processing techniques. 4. Apply the norms for the development and presentation of scientific research works.

5. Develop ethically responsible research work.

6. Develop a critical awareness of the results of research carried out by other researchers.

Program

1. Research methodologies in tourism:

1.1 Qualitative, quantitative or multi-method methodological approach; 1.2 Types of studies;

1.3 Plan Model or research design appropriate to the research paradigm. 2. Literature review:

2.1 Purpose and functions;

2.2 Research Phases;

2.3 Review of secondary sources;

2.4 Bibliometric analysis, Narrative review, Systematic review and Meta-analysis.

3. Population and sample:

3.1 Probability sampling techniques;

3.2 Non-probability sampling techniques.

4. Classification of variables:

4.1 Independent, dependent and mediating variables.

5. Data collection and processing techniques:

5.1 Interviews, discourse analysis, document analysis, case studies, observation, focus-group, delphy technique, cognitive maps, logbooks, life stories;

5.2 Measurements and scales (questionnaires);

6. Writing a scientific article (APA Norms).
