Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMDs) are prestigious integrated international study programmes jointly taught by an international consortium of Higher Education Institutions.
The EMJMDs award EU-funded scholarships to the best students selected each year.
Studies must take place in at least two of the programme countries. Part of the studies can also take place in a partner country if an institution from that country is involved in the programme
Currently the IPC participates in an EMJMD through the Coimbra Institute of Engineering.
The Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (EMMC STEPS) offers a highly specialised education in Electrical Engineering, focusing on two areas of the highest technological content and professional demands in the energy sector.
The EMMC STEPS is promoted by a partnership carried out by the University of Oviedo (ES), together with the Universities of Nottingham (ING), Rome (IT) and the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra – Coimbra Institute of Engineering (PT). Internationally prestigious universities such as Wisconsin-Madison and Illinois (USA), Santa Maria (BR) and Yeungnam (COR), and 16 leading global companies in the energy and transport sectors are associate members. The companies will offer internships and some senior staff will be involved in teaching.
