Intellectual Property (IP) is the set of rights covering intellectual creations and is divided into two main areas: Copyright and Industrial Property.
Copyright aims to protect literary and artistic works and covers rights of a patrimonial nature and rights of a personal nature, known as moral rights.
Industrial Property aims to protect inventions (patents and utility models), aesthetic creations (designs) and signs used to distinguish products and companies on the market (trademarks and other SDC).
The Polytechnic of Coimbra has the ongoing project “Mind2Market – Protecting to Value IPC’s Intellectual Property“, which aims at protecting and valuing the scientific and technological knowledge generated within the academic community, with the purpose of transferring it to society.
