Teaching Methodologies

In theoretical-practical sessions, a thematic guided discussion of content is encouraged and the adoption of active learning methodologies is privileged, namely through the promotion of project work.

This UC is oriented towards the development of scientific knowledge of contents related to topics under analysis (research, analysis, systematization and discussion/dissemination of knowledge are encouraged).

A critical and reflective grounded approach is required, favoring the mobilization of knowledge (development of skills in the cognitive domain), in an orientation for the diagnosis and multifactorial analysis of socio-environmental issues and for problem resolution (development of skills of the socio-emotional and behavioral domain) within the scope of an environmental citizenship project.

In continuous assessment, the following elements are considered:

– Written work (40%); Presentation and defense (40%); participation and critical reflection (20%).

In the exam assessment:

– Conducting a written test according to the academic calendar (100%).

Learning Results

– Recognize the importance of nature conservation, ecosystem services and environmental quality for human well-being;

– Identify and understand the impacts of people / environment interaction and environment/ human health;

– Recognize the importance of environmental policy instruments implementation;

– Understand the framework and objectives of environmental citizenship promotion within the scope of sustainable development;

– Know and promote good practices of individual and collective participation, to the issues of environment

and sustainable development;

– Recognize the actions that increase the exercise of environmental good practice;

– Acquire skills to design and develop intervention strategies, appropriate to the demands of society, and to promote environmental citizenship.

I – Ecology, environment and human well-being:

– Fundamental concepts of ecology and environment;

– Ecosystem services and human well-being.

II- Environmental issues and human well-being:

– The state of the environment and heath impacts (Air, water and soil pollution Exploitation of renewable and non-renewable resources);

– Climate change (environmental impact and public health);

– Environmental Disasters – Impact on ecosystems and humanitarian implications.

III – Environmental policy and nature conservation:

– Summits Environment;

– National, International and European Policy.

IV – Principles and concepts of environmental citizenship:

– Civic participation and environmental citizenship.
