Teaching Methodologies

Lessons will emphasize theory with practical examples. Contents will be treated in order to establish links with other disciplines (anatomy and physiology, methodology of training, exercise prescription, biomechanics, fitness).
Assessment can be done either by periodical assessment or by exam.
By periodical assessment:
1. Written theoretical assessments: 50%
2. Practical and Theoretical-Practical assessments: 50%
By exam: Assessment by exam consists of a written examination about all subjects covered during the semester.

Learning Results

1. Describe and interpret the functioning of the cardiorrespiratory system during sport performance, and the accute and chronic adaptations to exercise.
2. Understand the adaptation mechanisms of the human body to aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
3. Understand the adaptive dynamics of the human body in specif environmental conditions.
4. To know the effects of ergogenic substances in the adaptations to exercise and sport performance
5. Understand and apply methodologies of physical and physiological assessment

Program

1. Function of the respiratory and cardiovascular apparatuses
2. Adaptative effects of training and detraining on the respiratory and cardiovascular apparatus:
2.1. Cardiovascular system and its control
2.2. The respiratory system ant its regulation
2.3. Cardiorespiratory responses to exercise
3. Adaptations of the human body to training and detraining
4. Adaptations to exercise in hot and cold environments
5. Adaptations to exercise at altitude
6. Ergogenic aids in sport
7. Measurements and techniques of physical and physiological assessment of athletes..
