Teaching Methodologies

The theoretical-practical lessons aim to adopt a positive nature consisting of. 1) a combination of systematical demonstrations of the information and knowledge process and with critical analyses based on texts and case study; 2) more in-depth work of some of the subjects in the programme which will be developed by the students.

Evaluation will conform with what is required by the internal regulations of the ESEC. In which students may choose one of the following alternatives:- evaluation by attendance or evaluation by examination (written test). The evaluation by attendance takes place throughout the teaching process and consists of the following: group research work and on an in-depth study of a theme on paliative care intervention (40%), and an individual written test (60%). 

Final Exam consists on a written test which inlcudes a theorical and a practical part (50% each).

Learning Results

As a result, it is expected that at the end of this curricular unit students are able to master the evaluation and intervention in health and chronic disease management. It is further expected that students understand the principles and philosophy of palliative care for the elderly and models and stages of grief and death in different aspects and gerontological settings. This knowledge underly in a technical-scientific way the intervention carried out by these professionals
