Teaching Methodologies

Curricular Unit evaluation exclusively ongoing (this CU is matched to the CU of Estágio).
The methodology comprises two strands:
1. The intervention: through periodic meetings, coordinated by professor responsible, a project will be drafted, identifying target audience, thematics to be explored and strategies for the various stages of the project.
2. The creation and presentation of the show, which will obey the schedule of rehearsals, in which the students will perform both artistic and technical functions, assigned to them by the Director/teacher. The show will run, in principle, for two weeks (or ten sessions).
Evaluation:
-Punctuality, commitment, initiative and contribution to group work (30%);
-Participation in the formulation of intervention project and strategic actions (35%);
-Scenic and dramaturgical work quality developed during the tests and public presentations (35%).

Learning Results

1. Discuss issues relevant to viewers and to society through a theme and/or a dramatic text and of scenic conception of the show, in order to stimulate interest in an art theater committed to citizenship and with the collective utopias.
2. Create, produce, staging, interpret and present a theatrical spectacle with technical rigor, professional level and apparent artistic quality, taking into account the current parameters and resources available in the regional reality.
3. Promote the articulation between the theatrical spectacle and the socio-cultural context in which it is inserted, with a view to closer ties between the theater and the surrounding community,
4. To plan, develop and analyze critically the processes and strategies adopted to intervene with the audience during the preparation phase, the period of tests and during public presentations.

Program

1. The choice of the theme/text: determining criteria. Research works about the theme/author and the dramaturgic text features.
2. The insertion of text in contemporary socio-cultural context and the fundamentals of the project. Determination of the issues most relevant to the formulation of the draft speech.
3. Determination of the target audience, type of intervention and the strategies designed for such intervention.
4. Formulation of a scenic design appropriate to the objectives of the project.
5. Choice of the cast and the distribution of roles. Distribution of other artistic and technical functions required to mount the show.
6. Application of questionnaires; Organization of lectures and debates; preparation of printed texts; Flash presentations of scenes and other intervention actions to the target community.
7. Public presentations of the show, followed by discussions with the target community and with the general public.
