Teaching Methodologies

The cognitive method of learning is valued. Teaching methodologies include the involvement and accountability of students in the conception, development and implementation of a project, monitored by the teacher in view of its rationale and ultimate goal.

Evaluation:

a) Oral Presentation (40%) -Students should prepare 2 shorts scholarly talk (30 minutes) based on both a film sequence and a text

b) Participation in Class discussions (20%) – It’s expected for everyone to attend classes regularly and discuss previous given readings in relation to specific projected images, as well as seminars/workshops and field trips.

c) individual research project (40%) – c. 25 p. (excluding notes and bibliography).

Delivery of the version one week after the presentations.

Evaluation by Exam: Theoretical test (100%) – 20 values. 

Learning Results

This Curricular Units aims to provide the students the musical knowledge and language through the refletion of its importance in human interaction. Based on the concepts of language, art and music, its recognition will be searched in a contexts of sound and image wich enables inter-individual comunication, and some times of feelings and emotions.

It promotes critical sense of musical phenomenons in a multidisciplinar and modern perspective, developing the sensibility to the musical performance and the recognizing its importance in the aesthetics education.

Program

Concepts of language, art, music and comunication and their conections.

The language, an cultural dialog instrument. Verbal and non-verbal comunication has a multi-ethnic channel.

Inconic language. Image and comunication.

Sound, music and comunication. Informative aproach. Musica and/in advertising.

Language and semantics of music. The cultural message and the comunicative structures.

Musical practice and hystorical reprodution. Iconic and photo sources essencial to the musicologic studies.

The variations is taste paterns. The public and artistic resourses.

Musical earing: the composer’s interaction and the skills of the listener.
