Teaching Methodologies

The classes will be theoretical and practical, with a theoretical approach only as form of presentation, focusing mainly on the practical component based on group and individual exercises. The evaluation shall respect the provisions of the ruls of procedure of the school of education, the curriculum unit will be assessed continuously or for final exam. Continuous assessment: The evaluation process will be oriented with emphasis on following parameters:
a) Autonomous Work: – Development of avideo in LSP in groups about news of National and International Deaf Community and poetry composition (25%);
Exercices and Participation (15%).
b) Tests: One test per teacher, according to each hours and themes (60%).
Assessment for final exam: Theoretical examination and practical having regard to the syllabus taught (100%).

Learning Results

Students are expected to have successfully completed this course are able to understand your own body in expressive and having language skills basic/advanced signs, the B classification level of the common European framework of reference for languages as well as structural knowledge of Portuguese Sign Language, of cultural, linguistic and historical peculiarities of the deaf community, and to understand and appreciate History and Deaf culture.

Program

The contents of this course will focus on themes such as:

Lexical contents:
– Portuguese and International food and arts culture;
– Deaf Sports associations;
– Deaf Community modern concepts: Deafhood, Deaflore, Deafgain, Audism, Empowerment.

Grammar contents:
– Poetry – textual analysis;
– Nouns (number and gender variation), pronouns e adjectives;
– Negative nad interrogative sentences;
– Syntax: simple and complex sentences;
– Verbal aspect and manner;
– Directional verbs.

Historic and cultural contents:
– Deaf education: figures and education trajectories.
