Base Knowledge

N/A

Teaching Methodologies

The classes are dynamic integrating:

1) a combination of systematized expositions of information and knowledge with critical, text-based analysis,

video viewing and practical exercises;

2) practical development work;

3) elaboration of a research initiation project.

The student can choose between 2 types of assessment: continuous assessment and final exam.

Approval in the curricular unit is obtained with a minimum score of 10, in each of the assessment modalities.

Continuous assessment results from the mandatory application of three parameters, with the student having to obtain a minimum classification of seven values in each of them:

a) Written and individual knowledge assessment test (50%);

b) Participation in exercises performed in class (10%).

c) Group work, which includes the delivery of a written work and an oral presentation (40%).

Assessment by final exam consists of a written knowledge assessment test.

Learning Results

1. Know and apply the procedures and methodologies of qualitative/quantitative research in the area of Gastronomy and Tourism: • Identify research problems and support a research project;

• Select the most appropriate research design;

• Select the universe and the sample;

• Select and use data collection techniques suitable for research;

• Proceed with processing and analysis using software appropriate to the research design;

• Interpret the information collected and communicate the research results to different audiences;

• Solve problems and introduce into daily practice, either the results of their reflection on research practice, or the results of scientific studies and research.

2. Develop a critical awareness of the results of research carried out by other researchers.

Program

1 Quantitative and Qualitative Research: models of knowledge construction.

2 Experimental, non-experimental, quasi-experimental and mixed or flexible methodological approach.
