Teaching Methodologies

In classes, all theoretical-practical, the expository methodology is adopted for the presentation of theoretical concepts. At the same time, there is a permanent follow-up of practical cases that illustrate the subjects presented and that, through concrete examples proposed for group discussion, allow students to perceive the effective application of the stated concepts.

In addition, the analysis of scientific and disclosure articles, of videos/diaporamas, the consultation and research of elements and comparative data, as well as the contact with the beef cattle production at the ESAC agricultural holding and in other farms, allow to consolidate the syllabus exposed.

Finally, students are asked to propose technical alternatives in hypothetical situations presented to them, allowing them to develp practical skills for the application of the presented concepts.

Learning Results

1. Relate grassland species physiology of  with management options for grazing dryland and irrigated pastures;

2. Understand the principles involved in forage processing for hay, silage and other forms of conservation;

3. Prepare work programs for different fodder conservation forms;

4. Identify the various stakeholders, potential and existing constraints in the production process of beef cattle;

5. Know the different methods of beef cattle evaluation as breeding stock;

6. Consider different beef cattle production systems, for different feeding conditions and particular objectives of the actors envolved in the production process.
