Teaching Methodologies

Throughout the classes, concepts and practical examples will be presented and discussed through approaches that stimulate critical and strategic thinking. Research and analysis of the most appropriate and up-to-date sources of information will be encouraged with a view to creating tools for building economic studies. Sharing knowledge about products and inland tourism destinations will be stimulated, from which students will be encouraged to propose new business ideas, based on their own observation and teamwork.
Approval in the subject is obtained with a minimum classification of 10 values. The student can choose between a final exam or continuous assessment.
The exam constitutes a single individual test (100%).
Continuous assessment results from the following parameters:
– Economic-financial analysis group work (50%)
– Participation in economic-financial analysis classes (20%)
– Participation in the activities of seminars/fieldwork (30%)

Learning Results

This curricular unit aims to cover a diverse range of topics related to the management and development of inland tourism destinations, through the sharing of knowledge with experts with diverse experiences in the field of tourism. In this way, it is intended that students are able to: understand the dynamics of the tourism system, especially in areas with low population density; identify tourism resources with the potential to develop a structured supply, based on collaborative networks; develop strategic thinking that enhances the identification and analysis capacity of tourism business opportunities; create practical tools for the construction of forecast bases and preparation of economic and financial projections to assess the viability and return of tourism projects; analyze and interpret the results obtained.

4. Brief analysis of funding programs and inherent procedures for the tourism sector
5. Collaborative networks: from the tourism resources to a structured tourism supply
