The syllabus are covered in a theoretical-practical perspective, following the recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council. First we present the Portuguese Integrated Medical Emergency system
and its organization and resources, with special focus on the first and second links in the Chain of Survival, fast and quick access to 112 and basic life support, respectively. Major emergencies in older
people are presented with the aim of students learn to enable them to develop rapid, efficient and effective first aids. Next, we developed simulations of emergencies (stalls practices) situation for the students
improve the skills inherent to the aid of victims. Finally, for each situation presented, and where appropriate, are given guidelines and preventive strategies to be adopted for the elderly and / or
implemented by future professionals to reduce some of the emergency situations in this population group.
Expository – presentation of theoretical content. Active – assets are privileged methods, participatory and experiential, including role-playing; analysis of situations or proposals submitted by students; learning by
problem solving. Stalls practices emergency / urgency (demonstrative method).
