Teaching Methodologies

Due to the performative character of the Course, the applied methodologies meet education centered on student performance, focusing on practical aspects of performance.
The methods aplied are mainly practical with exception in some expositive syllabus. The methods will also provide auto and hetero criticism. Collective and individual exercises will be developed to obtain relaxation, breathing, placement and voice projection technics.
A Autonomy in preparation do voice utilization will be promoted.

Continuums evaluation (100%)
Parameters/weights:
Vocal technique (placement and timbre) – 15%
Diction / articulation – 15%
Interpretation (spoken voice – poetic text) – 25%
Interpretation (sung voice) – 25%
Theoretical-practical questions – 20%.

Exam:
It consists of two tests: a Theoretical test (50%) and a practical test (50%).

 

Learning Results

1. To know and to use correctly several forms of relaxation and breathing.
2. Recognize a proper use of the vocal system through the rentabilization of the resonance zones.
3. Recognize how necessary a good practice as the basis for a joint quality diction.
4. Promote, through vocal work, a good interpretive and creative attitude.
5. Develop techniques regarding spoken (and sung) voice.
6. Promote the autonomy in the use of the voice.
7. Promote attitudes of self and constructive hetero-criticism.
8. It also aims the knowledge of specific literature in the domains of voice, its proper use and main dysfunctions, as well as the promotion of study and joint work.

Program

Awareness of the functioning of the body as a vehicle in the creative process.
The Vocal Instrument. Physiology and individuality of voice. Vocal Classification: spoken, sung and professional. Specific techniques for production optimization and vocal recording (spoken and singing voice).
The spoken text – development of vocal techniques for spoken (and sung) voice.
Limitations in the use of spoken voice and in the teaching-learning process of singing. Impact of Temporomandibular Dysfunction on Vocal Production and Quality. Prevention and treatment strategies.
Pedagogical and Performative Practice
• The articulation of music and the word
• Practical knowledge of Voice repertoire spoken (and sung).
• Fidelity to the poetic and musical text and freedom of interpretation
• Memory processes.
Develop progression without mentoring.
