Teaching Methodologies
Due to the interruption of the LEAP course, the curricular unit (CU) will not run normally during the semester.
To provide the proposed competences the teaching/learning process will be based on tutorials requested by the students and scheduled by the professors via NONIO or e-mail:

Learning Results
The aims of the UC are to:
1. Identify animal species with different digestive and metabolic characteristics and nutritional requirements;
2. Know food systems and evaluation methods;
3. Use adequate methods to formulate diets
4. Know the main cultural techniques used in agriculture, from land preparation to harvesting;
5. Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of the use of the main management crop techniques in real situations
Program
For assessment purposes, the content of the syllabus is divided into 2 modules:
Module 1 (50%):
Energy value of food and its use by the animal.
Nutritional needs of animals.
Classification and nutritional value of foods.
Evaluation of diets: energy and protein systems.
Food and water intake.
Formulation of diets.
Metabolic disorders.
Module 2 (50%):
Machinery and equipment.
Adaptation of land for agriculture and tillage according to purpose.
Technologies for soil management and tillage: conventional tillage and direct seeding.
An integrated view of the mechanized operations that take place on the ESAC farm.
Visit to one or more farms in the region with rice production technology.

For evaluation purposes, the syllabus contents are organized by modules, whose assessment tools and respective weightings are as follows:
Continuous evaluation
Due to the interruption of the course, the CU will not run in the academic year 2024/2025. Therefore, continuous assessment will not be possible.
Final exam evaluation
The final exam consists of:
Module 1:
- written test (35%) and the formulation of a feed (15%).
Module 2:
- written test (35%) and a practical assessment (15%).
FINAL CLASSIFICATION= 50% x module 1 + 50% x module 2
Students will be approved if the weighted average of their marks in the two modules is at least 9.5.
