Finance and Sustainability

Teaching Methodologies

In the course, interactive methodologies are employed to integrate the theoretical and practical dimensions of the methodologies to be explored, encouraging participation, debate, and individual critical reflection on real cases. Learning the analysis of traditional and/or green financing, both in the realm of economic and financial balance and in the domain of company evaluation, should provide the ability to understand and analyze real companies and effectively communicate the conclusions reached.

Furthermore, the group project aims to develop collaborative work skills. Finally, students will be encouraged to engage in independent work for consolidation and deepening, preparation and/or continuation of in-person sessions, and tutorial support for learning assistance.

Learning Results

The financial managers must have timely and independent information, promoting a less time-consuming decision-making process under the principles of value creation, sustainable growth, and the consequent acquisition of competitive advantages in a highly competitive market.

In this sense, the objectives of this course are to enable students to learn fundamental methods and techniques for analyzing companies’ financial statements and to prepare an economic and financial diagnosis with a focus on sustainable practices. Specifically, the aim is to provide students with the following skills:

a) Understand the importance of sustainability in corporate strategy.

b) Discuss and evaluate the analysis of financial balance.

c) Discuss and evaluate traditional and green investments.

d) Discuss and evaluate options and derivatives.
