360° Accessibility

The applications submitted under the Program for Intervention in Public Buildings – Investment RE-C03-i02 360° Accessibility – No. 2/C03-i02/2021 aim to enable improvement works on accessibility in 20 buildings of the Polytechnic University of Coimbra, providing responses for the inclusion of people with mobility impairments.

Through these applications, approved under the RRP and funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, it is intended to continue a strategy of improving access in all IPC buildings. This translates into the creation of access ramps to buildings, parking spaces for people with mobility impairments, adapted sanitary facilities, installation of rubber carpet flooring, tactile paving, exterior doors and handrails on stairs, among other measures.

This investment is in line with the European Strategy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2035 and is a way to promote the rights of people with disabilities. It also highlights that these issues are interconnected with the economy and with society as a whole, which should be inclusive for everyone.
