Teaching Methodologies
Teaching methodologies will consist of the following procedures:
1) Theoretical and generical presentation of the subject matters;
2) Exploration of case studies by the students, closely supported by the teacher;
3) A working assignment to be made by the students;
4) Written evaluating, followed by a viva voce presentation of the assignment’s results.
Learning Results
This course intends to provide an opportunity to integrate the interdisciplinary theoretical knowledge acquired while studying for this degree, by applying it to working life scenarios expected by Nature Guides. Therefore, students are expected to learn:
— To tipify and to frame, in juridical, social and ecological terms, the offer of enviromental animation products available in a given region;
— To tipify and to frame, in juridical, social and ecological terms, the demand of enviromental animation products available in a given region, as well as to identify how to satisfy such demand;
— To write detailed environmental animation programs for a given region, integrating in a single ecotourism package nature sports and environmental interpretation;
— To confirm if ecotourism programs are coherent with the ethical code mandatorily subscribed by ecotourism companies.
Program
1. Nature Guide services: tipification, segmentation and regulation of environmental intepretation and of Nature sports.
2. Products and resources associated with Nature Guidance: information sources (bibliography, cartography, multimedia); apparel and equipment (safety requirements, diversity of supply); legal framework for nature activities (fauna, flora e and geology observation; outdoor sports; excursionism, pedestrianism e mountaneering, &c
3. Programming of environmental animation events: the selection of interpretation methods and sports modalities according to the region and the profile of the target audience; logistical planning (accommodation, food, equipment); prevention and safety (contingency and relief plans), environmental code of conduct (prevention of damage).
4. Applicable environmental legislation (tourist activities, economic activities and civil liability).
