Materiais de Construção

Base Knowledge

Basic knowledge of mathematics and physics.

Teaching Methodologies

The teaching method is essentially expository in theoretical classes and descriptive/collaborative in practical classes. The student is encouraged to carry out research on the various subjects and to discuss them with the other students and the teacher. Students are invited to solve practical exercises, first with the support of the teacher and then independently.

Learning Results

Develop skills in the various common building materials, providing general knowledge of their structure, production, behavior and applications.
Know the most frequently used building materials such as natural stone, ceramic materials, glass, metals, wood and its derivatives, binders, mortars and concrete.
Understand how different types of building materials are obtained and how they are manufactured.
Understand the main characteristics of the various materials, identifying the advantages and disadvantages of each according to the intended application, specifying the conditions of application.
Learn how to determine some fundamental properties of materials in the laboratory.
