Teaching Methodologies
This Curricular Unit, is a non-teaching Unit, and therefore, the concept of “Teaching Method” will not be applicable.
However, the IPC Regulation for the 2nd Cycle, in general, and the Regulation for the 2nd Cycle Courses (Masters) of ISCAC, in the
Dissertation section, defines some considerations regarding the guidance and supervision of the works.
There is also the implementation of a Motivation Methodology based on the realization of a cycle of open classes, in each edition of the
Masters. These take place on a free attendance regime and take place during the academic quarters
Learning Results
The main aim of this course is to develop research work in one of the scientific areas of the Master in Management Information Systems,
MMIS.
As specific objectives, it intends to provide an in-depth study of research methods and practices in Management Information Systems and
to help students understand and successfully overcome the various stages of the scientific research process.
In terms of skills, students will develop:
– research capacity
– systematic analysis and critical thinking;
– scientific writing (scientific papers, reports, etc.);
– the capacity for scientific presentation.
Program
As this is a non-teaching unit, the ‘Programme’ is not applicable in the strict sense of the contents defined for the course.
The ISCAC 2nd Cycle Course Regulations, in the articles in the Dissertation section, define: objectives, duration and guidance.
The dissertation includes an individual work plan, after assessment by the supervisor and co-supervisor, if any. This proposal is subject to
prior assessment and subsequent nomination by the Master’s Scientific Committee (CCM) and approval by the Technical-Scientific Council.
This course includes a programme of open classes, in conjunction with Research Project I and II, designed to motivate students and
promote scientific and technical-scientific work, with 3 open classes/quarter (average duration=1h30). The contents of these classes are
created annually by the CCM, in line with the topicality of the topics and their interest for the scientific areas of the study cycle and for the
work of the dissertation.
