Course Objectives

The Microaccreditation course in Exercise Prescription for People with Musculoskeletal Conditions aims to provide the physiotherapist with professional skills that allow, at a specialized level, to assess movement and physical fitness, and to prescribe, implement and monitor clinical and therapeutic interventions related to movement, physical activity and physical exercise, in response to the specific needs of the user with musculoskeletal conditions, throughout life, according to the practice model based on evidence and centered on the person.
The knowledge, skills and abilities, and attitudes and behaviors to be acquired are in line with the competence benchmark “Assessment of physical fitness and prescription of physical exercise by physiotherapists”, published in 2020 by the Portuguese Association of Physiotherapists.
Guided by an effective clinical reasoning process, the physiotherapist is recognized as an expert on the human movement system, taking into account the interaction of body structures and functions that generate and maintain movement, activities and participation, and personal and environmental factors. . He is also recognized as the central health professional in the prescription of exercise as a clinical and therapeutic tool, since he combines in-depth knowledge about risk factors and the pathophysiology of multiple health conditions (injury, disturbance or disease) to his technical skills. -scientific information on movement therapy, physical activity and physical exercise. This micro-accreditation course intends to contribute to the attainment of increased skills in exercise prescription for people with musculoskeletal conditions.

Access Conditions

Bachelors or graduates in Physiotherapy, or legal equivalent, may apply for enrollment and enrollment.
