Centres

 

CERNAS  – The Research Centre for Natural Resources, Environment and Society is a research unit of the Polytechnic of Coimbra, recognised by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which operates in the fields of Agricultural Sciences, Food Science and Engineering, Environment and Society. It is the only research centre in the Central Region of the country carrying out research in the strategic areas of agriculture, agroindustry, forest and rural development. It is structured in three territorial poles: Coimbra (based in IPC’s Agriculture School), Castelo Branco (based in IPCB’s Agriculture School) and Viseu (based in IPV’s Agriculture School and in Technology and Management School).

RESEARCHERS

CITUR – The Centre for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation is a research and development unit of the national higher education polytechnic subsystem, recognized by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) which integrates the Polytechnic of Coimbra. CiTUR Coimbra is based in the IPC’s Education School and includes researchers associated with the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC). Its main research lines are: tourism economy and management, hospitality and restaurant industry, tourism territory and destinations, tourism products and entertainment planning and management, and cultural tourism, encompassing social and linguistic dimensions.

RESEARCHERS

CDPH – the Human Potential Development Centre is a research unit of the Polytechnic of Coimbra that aims to promote fundamental and applied research in the field of human potential development. It is based in the IPC’s Education School and its main research lines are: social and behavioural sciences, psychology, sociology, political science and citizenship, communication sciences and journalism, management and administration and organisational behaviour.

NIEFI – the Research Group in Education, Training and Intervention, which aims to promote fundamental and applied research in the fields of education, training and intervention. RESEARCHERS

ASSERT/UNICID – the Applied Research Unit in Sports Science, which aims to promote research in the fields of motor behaviour and human performance, physical activity, sports and health, and sports, leisure, and tourism. RESEARCHERS

 

RCM 2 the Research Centre in Maintenance and Asset Management is a research centre of the Polytechnic of Coimbra which aims to develop Scientific Research and Technological Development (SR&TD), its dissemination and promotion in the areas of Industrial Engineering and Physical Assets Management, as well as in other areas related to Science and Technology (ST). The main research lines are: Organisation and Management of Industrial Maintenance; Predictive Maintenance; Physical Asset Management; Industrial Sensing; Big Data and Data Analysis; Simulation, Modulation, Virtual and Augmented Reality; Quality Control and Optimisation Smart Systems; Smart Diagnosis; Expert Systems.

CBS Research Centre – Coimbra Business School Research Centre in Business Sciences is a research centre of the Polytechnic of Coimbra which aims to bring multidisciplinary scientific research closer to the business world, seeking to boost and strengthen partnerships with other Research Units, Higher Education Institutions and Organisations oriented towards the promotion of national and international research networks. The main research lines/areas are: Accounting, Auditing and Taxation; Management, Finance and Marketing; Economics and Business; Systems and Information Technologies; Public Administration; Juridical Science; Quantitative Methods and Decision Support Systems.
