Teaching Methodologies
Formal exposition.
Field trips for observation and collection of material and information.
Execution of practical work in the laboratory and in the field.
Research and application of specialized bibliographic information by the student.
Learning Results
It is intended that the student…
1. State and summarize the basic botanical knowledge in anatomy, morphology, physiology, diversity, and phylogeny. This objective will be promoted by knowledge exposure in the theoretical classes and by the visualization of examples in the field or in the laboratory.
2. List and apply principles and methods of research in the UC area. This objective will be promoted by exposure to field or laboratory work and by bibliographic research.
3. Interconnect the learnings in this UC to acquire an integrated understanding of the functioning of plants, becoming able to later seek a greater and more sustainable productivity. This objective will be promoted by exposure to examples, by bibliographic research and encouraged by challenges posed during classes.
Program
A1. Descriptive Botany: anatomy and morphology; examples of plant uses and specific characteristics
A2. Plant Physiology: water, respiratory and photosynthetic metabolism; nutrition; genetic and hormonal regulation of development
A3. Phylogeny and Diversity: main taxonomic groups and diversity recognition and identification
B. Practical application of knowledge: identification of plants and physiology topics (simultaneously with A1, A2 and A3).
