Course Objectives
To train qualified professionals to perform in the field of Education and Leisure, with high skills in activities planning, supervision and evaluation of projects and programs, using a variety of technologies, within the perspective of social intervention considering different Adults Education(AE) and Local Development (LD)contexts.
To deepen technical, pedagogical and scientific training acquired in the 1st cycle of studies, for the professional practice in the field of adult comunity educational functions as agents of local development.
To provide tools for ensuring the implementation of research activities more likely to support Master’s students intervention as agents of change in AE and LD contexts.
To provide conditions to acquire and develop applied knowledge to the development of action-research projects.
To provide the opportunity for master students to develop scientific and cultural autonomy for the pursuance of studies 3rd cycle – PhD.
Access Conditions
Access is in accordance with the 2nd Cycle of Studies Academic Regulations for IPC’s courses.
Professional Outlets
Senior technicians / project coordinators / managers in the areas of Adult Education, Community Intervention and Local Development, in public and private institutions, such as: councils, associations, NGOs and other companies.

Learning Objectives
Since this is a polytechnic study cycle, the philosophy and structure of the syllabus aims to reconcile the following general objectives with the corresponding skills:
a) Articulate a solid scientific background in the general field of psychology and Educational Sciences, Social Sciences, among others, with the more specific fields of Adults Education and Local Development, able to provide a contextualized cultural understanding within these phenomena; b) To articulate a scientific background with a technical mastery of skills associated with the ability of providing not only a “know-how”, but also a “why it’s done”;
c) To articulate academic projects with the labor market in order to adjust the nature of the training/research with the demands of the labor market, without forgetting how can actively polytechnic institutions contribute to innovate and develop practices in the labor market; d) To articulate a training plan for scientific and technical skills development with a training plan for students’ personal skills development that can enable them not only to the exercise of a professional activity, but also the development of applied research activities; e) To promote the international mobility of students within the EU, helping to open up to other realities and the construction of a ‘European Citizenship “.
These goals are operationalized during the first year in each CU and through the interdisciplinary relationship established between related CUs.
During the second year of the course, dedicated to Action-research project, application of skills and its evaluation in concrete situations by action-researchis set in motion. This stage is monitored by a teachersupervisor.
It follows an on-going evaluation by the supervisor and an evaluation by a jury, of a action-research thesis that allow to assess the fulfillment of the objectives.
