Course Objectives
1. To train qualified professionals to perform in the field of Education and Leisure, with high skills in activities planning, supervision and evaluation of projects and programs, using a variety of technologies including, arts and culture, physical and sports activities, tourism, among other, within the perspective of social intervention considering different leisure contexts;
2. To deepen technical, pedagogical and scientific training acquired in the 1st cycle of studies, for the professional practice in the field of educational functions by and for leisure;
3. To provide tools for ensuring the implementation of research activities more likely to support Master students intervention as agents of change in leisure contexts;
4. To provide conditions to acquire and develop applied knowledge to the development of action research projects;
5. To provide the opportunity for master students to develop scientific and cultural autonomy for the pursuance of studies 3rd cycle – PhD.

Access is in accordance with the 2nd Cycle of Studies Academic Regulations for IPC’s courses.

– Coordinator/ Superior Technician in Education and Leisure in different institutional contexts (Leisure and Free-Time Activities Centres, Primary and Secondary Schools and their respective communities, IPSS’s, Local Development Associations, Municipalities, Companies, among others);
– Consultant/ Organizer and Project Manager in the scope of Education and Leisure in the different institutional contexts described;
– Director/ Coordinator of Leisure and Free-time Activity Centres;
– Researcher and trainer in Education and Leisure.

Learning Objectives
1. To understand the concept of leisure in contemporary society, its emergence, its development contexts, in a sociological and educational perspective, enabling students to design projects, programs and activities appropriate to the different types of publics, in different contexts of leisure ( formal, non-formal and informal), from a perspective of education by/for leisure;
2. To understand the complexity and scope of the information society, knowledge and learning in a perspective of lifelong education, in order to organize activities, projects and leisure programs in which the knowledge component allows the enrichment of groups involved;
3. To construct a framework of social representations distanced from the school context that allows the design, implementation and evaluation of non-formal education activities with specific educational intentions using various resources (physical activities, artistic expressions and other cultural activities, tourism, etc.);
4. To design projects, programs and activities in school and / or community environments that promote equal opportunities, interest in learning and the integration of children and young people in school and in the workplace, and develop their leisure contexts;
5. To develop scientific research that is the basis for the design (strategies and diagnostic tools), implementation (strategies and instruments for action research) and evaluation (strategies and instruments for monitoring) of educational projects and programs in different leisure contexts.
Access to Superior Studies
The Master Diploma in Education and Leisure grants qualification to continue studies in a PhD Degree.
