Course Objectives
Pathological anatomy is fundamental in the analysis of organs, tissues and cells, contributing to diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic guidance. The anatomopathological diagnosis essentially covers the macroscopic and microscopic components.
Macroscopy is based on the analysis, description of anatomical parts and collection of sample fragments or representative fragments of the organ or lesion, which will subsequently be subjected to microscopic analysis.
Access Conditions
Holders of a higher academic degree in the areas of pathological anatomy, Cytology and Thanatology and laboratory Biomedical Sciences or the possession of a school, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized by the Technical-Scientific Council of ESTeSC, attesting to the capacity to carry out the course, may apply for enrollment and registration.
In addition to the verification of the aforementioned conditions, only candidates who present, at the time of application, a document signed by the Coordinating technician and director of the pathological anatomy Service/ Laboratory, declaring that the pathological anatomy Service/ Laboratory has conditions for the macroscopy internship and that it accepts the candidate for the internship within the scope of this course.

Learning Objectives
The Postgraduate Degree in macroscopy aims to train qualified professionals in macroscopy in pathological anatomy, enabling them to:
1) develop and apply techniques for the orientation, description and collection of biological material from organs and tissues, collaborating for the anatomopathological analysis and developing macroscopic diagnoses;
2) perform autopsies within the field of Thanatology, including the collection of samples and application of techniques for tissue analysis;
3) describe surgical specimens of simple to moderate complexity, respecting protocols and international criteria for prognostic evaluation.
