Postgraduate Course in Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health

Course Objectives

Pelvic Health has seen a progressive breaking of ties and taboos, and is today an area of growing demand for assistance, particularly at the level of Physiotherapy care. Its approach implies a collaborative and interdisciplinary process that aims to offer the best results to the user, and maximum gains in health.
The Postgraduate Degree in Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health 1) aims to provide graduates in the area of physiotherapy with specialized and in-depth knowledge, skills and competencies in Pelvic Health (Women, Men and children); 2) considers different specialties (Urogynecology, Coloproctology, sexuality, pelvic pain and other specific conditions), at different stages of the life cycle, based on practice informed by evidence and considering the person as a biopsychosocial being.
Of a professional nature, it combines theoretical concepts with imminently practical teaching, always from an interdisciplinary perspective for the provision of differentiated care, including the preventive and pelvic health promotion aspect. For those who are already integrated into the labor market, this will be an opportunity to add value to their practice, acquire new tools, and develop new skills and intervention dynamics.
Throughout the course, participants will have opportunities for personal and professional improvement, being stimulated their ability to evaluate and treat different dysfunctions of the pelvic floor, based on clinical reasoning and critical thinking in the adaptability and personalization of quality treatments that respond to the specific needs of each person. The dialogues and sharing of interdisciplinary experiences, with national and international experts, will be an added opportunity in this training.
The PG in Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health is a program specifically designed for physiotherapists, which will also include curricular units open to other health professionals, who are looking for new skills to consolidate their career, in an interdisciplinary and synergistic perspective of care delivery.

Access Conditions

Holders of a degree in physiotherapy or the legal equivalent may apply for enrolment and registration.
