Program

• Know the different protocols included in POCUS
• Lung ultrasound
    o Brief anatomical notions
    o Knowing how to interpret artifacts
    o Know and identify the normal lung and its appearance on ultrasound
    o Know and interpret the main pulmonary pathologies: Pneumothorax, Pleural effusion, Pulmonary edema, Atelectasis and consolidations.
    o Know and identify the diaphragm sonographically
    o Evaluate the diagrammatic excursion
• Lower members
    o Brief anatomical notions
    o Know the protocol for venous assessment of the lower limbs
    o Know and interpret the main venous pathologies
• Cardiac ultrasound
    o Brief anatomical notions
    o Know and identify the four basic windows: subcostal, parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, apical 4 chambers;
    o Identify the different cardiac pathologies: pericardial effusion; normal heart vs “buffered” heart.
• eFAST protocol in trauma assessment
    o Understand and know the eFAST Protocol: historical notions and applicability;
    o Know your advantages, limitations and learning curve;
    o Understand the Windows/plans of the eFAST protocol and probes used;
    o Interpret results of ultrasound examinations and procedures.
• Large vessels
    o Brief anatomical notions
    o Assess the abdominal aorta artery
    o Know and understand the main pathologies of the abdominal aorta artery
    o Assess the Inferior Vena Cava
    o Know and understand the main pathologies of the Inferior Vena Cava
