Teaching Methodologies
In theoretical-practical classes, the expository method is used and reflection on topics introduced is encouraged from the perspective of
knowledge already acquired.
Practical-laboratory classes are dedicated to carrying out practical group work. The work is carried out with the close supervision of the
teacher. Students organize themselves into groups of two. Practical classes will be used to monitor students, clarifying doubts.
Learning Results
Learn theory and practice about the design and production of reinforced concrete structures (current structures).
Deepen knowledge about structural analysis. Analyse and design reinforced concrete structures.
Generic skills: Apply knowledge to solve a practical problem; carrying out judgment/decision making. Provide students with new knowledge
to deal with current situations in the area of reinforced concrete structures (make judgments and develop solutions).
Specific skills: Acquire knowledge about the quantification of actions and seismic analysis. Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge
about designing building structures. Use software to analyse stresses and deformations. Design reinforced concrete structures. Recognise,
diagnose and prevent structural errors in reinforced concrete constructions.
Program
Introduction: the phases of a project; responsibility for preparing projects, sequence of procedures.
Structure design: constraints; the great structural options.
General safety verification criteria: ELU and ELS; actions; combinations of actions.
Quantification of actions: permanent actions; variable actions.
Seismic analysis: calculation of the earthquake action; distribution of earthquake action across the various structural elements.
Internal efforts calculation: methodology; calculate loads in each frame; combinations of actions; effort calculation.
Design of reinforced concrete elements: general provisions; choice of materials; general and specific constructive provisions.
Project presentation: introduction; written pieces (descriptive and justification notes, geotechnical studies, calculations); drawn parts
(structural plans, slab reinforcement plans; details of reinforced concrete elements).
