Aplicação de Sistemas de Informação Geográfica

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical-practical classes have an expository, critical analysis and discussion component, associated with learning the solutions and
technologies applicable to solving problems. It is an environment of interaction with the students, but conducted in a guided manner.
Students are then encouraged to solve problems applying the concepts and techniques in the areas listed above, in order to consolidate the
exposition previously given. Whenever appropriate, the problem/project is presented first to justify the introduction of one or more concepts

Learning Results

Know the theoretical principles and apply the techniques needed to solve realistic problems in different areas of sustainable city
management, based on the efficient use of Geographic Information Systems.

Program

Use of Geographic Information Systems to solve problems in the following areas of sustainable city management:
– Urban hydrology
– Environment, climate and urban risks
– Planning of urban facilities
– Urban management
– Management of water supply / sanitation infrastructures
– Transport infrastructure management
– Urban mobility management
– Urban solid waste management
