Teaching Methodologies

Student assessment is exclusively continuous, with no final exam.

The following assessment methodologies are used:

  1. (TE) Presentation on chosen theme (2 points)
  2. (RE) Writing and discussion of short reports, related to each of the challenges presented (4 points)
  3. (AI) Delivery and intermediate presentation (2 points)
  4. (AC) Writing of the scientific article + (AD) presentation and defense (mandatory) (8+4) points
  5. (PA) Class attendance (1 point)

Final grade = 0.1 AP + 0.1 RE + 0.15 AI + 0.4 AC + 0.2 AD + 0.05 PA

Extra valorisation:

  • Scientific article accepted for publication in an international conference indexed in Scopus: + 1 point
  • Scientific paper accepted for publication in an international journal indexed in Scopus: + 3 points

Learning Results

The main objective of this course is to provide a close contact between the students and the industry:

  • The companies are invited to present the company, their projects, the working environment.
  • The students get involved in real situations from the companies, which they must analyze and propose solutions

Another objective is to train some important soft skills, namely related to the ability of effectively writing and presenting technical reports and scientific papers.

Program

1. Participation in seminars presented by invited speakers from the industry:

  • Research and discussion of current issues and real challenges faced by the industry.
  • Writing and reviewing reports with proposals for the resolution of the challenges presented by the speakers.

2. Writing, reviewing and presenting scientific papers:

  • Techniques for successful presentations.
  • Scientific research.
  • Good scientific writing practices: typical structure, content, references.
