Learning Objectives
A degree in Organic Farming aims to train professionals with higher education in the range of scientific knowledge in the area of agriculture and animal production technologies, with a solid multidisciplinary background.
Interdisciplinary skills needed for organic farming require consolidated knowledge in:
i) Agricultural and Animal Production, with 41% of ECTS. Gives specific expertise in the areas of Agricultural and Animal Production in an Organic form, and which establishes the profile skills of the graduate.
ii) Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, with 17% of ECTS. Learning in this area provides the student the ability to solve practical problems of organic farming, using the application of interdisciplinary skills.
iii) Engineering and Technology (irrigation, drainage and agricultural mechanization) and Veterinary Science (animal health and reproduction), with 10% of ECTS.
iv) Exact and biological sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, mathematics, biology, microbiology, botany) and earth sciences (geology and climatology), which together have 23% of the ECTS. The teaching of Exact Sciences, Life and Earth sciences aims to make the student competent in basic disciplines, to understand the biochemical processes of cells, their products and methods and analysis of biological, chemical, metereorológica technologies and data treatment. This knowledge allows a high number agro-food end-use applications, from plant and animal production, and environmental.
v) Economic and Management sciences (Management and Administration and Social and Behavioral Sciences), with 5% of ECTS. Study Management and Administration seeks to provide skills for the creation of business ventures and provision of services, developing marketing, innovation, entrepreneurship and business management skills, which support greater competence in establishing business initiatives and service delivery.
