Postgraduate Studies in Education and Leisure

Course Objectives

The Post-graduate studies in Education and Leisure has the following general objectives:
– Train qualified professionals to perform functions in the area of Education and Leisure, with a high capacity for planning, framing and evaluating activities, projects and programs, using various technologies, namely, art and culture, physical and sports activities, the tourism, among others, with the perspective of social intervention in different leisure contexts;
– Deepen technical, pedagogical and scientific training, to exercise the functions of education for and for leisure.

Access Conditions

The following may apply for access to the postgraduate course: a) Holders of a Bachelor’s degree or legal equivalent conferred by a national higher education institution in the areas of Social Pedagogy, Sociocultural Animation, Community Education and Social Education; degree in Educational Sciences, Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology and in other courses in the scope of Social and Human Sciences; degree in Tourism, Theater, Sports and Leisure Communication, Teaching or related areas; b) Candidates with enrollment in the last year of the degree.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand the concept of leisure in today’s society, its emergence, its development contexts, from a sociological and educational perspective, enabling students to design projects, programs and activities suitable for different types of recipients, in different leisure contexts ( formal, non-formal and informal), in a perspective of education through / for leisure.
2. Understand the complexity and scope of intervention of the information society, knowledge and learning in a perspective of lifelong education, in order to organize leisure activities, projects and programs in which the knowledge component allows the enrichment of groups involved.
3. Build a framework of social representations distant from the school context that allows to design, implement and evaluate non-formal education activities with specific educational intent (s) using different resources (Sports Physical Activities, Artistic Expressions and others) Cultural Activities, Tourism, etc.).
4. Design projects, programs and activities in school and / or community environments that promote equal opportunities, interest in learning and school and professional integration, of children and young people, developing their leisure contexts.
