Data Protection

POLYTECHNIC OF COIMBRA (IPC), as a public higher education institution, needs to collect personal data in order to carry out its duties and fulfill its legal obligations, and is therefore responsible for processing such data.

In the processing of personal data, compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD)1 is guaranteed and in this context, reinforcing its commitment to the protection and confidentiality of personal data, and also in respect for the exercise of the right to privacy of its holders, when they relate to the institution, the IPC PRIVACY AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION POLICY (Dispatch SC/117/2022) is established, applicable to all operations carried out within the scope of the activities pursued by the IPC.

Personal Data

All information relating to a singular identified or identifiable person who is the data subject is considered personal data. Namely: name, address, photograph, identification numbers, email address (if associated with the name of a singular person).

Personal Data Processing

The processing of personal data is carried out by the IPC always in strict compliance with the legislation on the protection of personal data, being stored in specific databases, created for this purpose, using internal computer applications and housed in physical structures with controlled and limited access.

Personal Data Collection

The data collected is used for the legal purposes to which the IPC is bound, or in accordance with the purposes indicated at the time of collection, and will not be used for any purpose other than the one for which it was collected without explicit consent and informed by the data subject.

Confidentiality

Personal data will be treated confidentially and may be accessed by a restricted group of IPC employees, duly identified, in compliance with their professional duties, within the precise limits and for the purposes of carrying out their duties.

Rights of Data Subjects

Under the terms of the legal framework on the protection of personal data, the IPC guarantees the data subject the exercise of their rights, namely access, updating, rectification or deletion of their personal data, upon written request addressed to the person in charge of data protection of the IPC via the email address epd@ipc.pt.

Whenever the processing of personal data is carried out based on the consent of the holder, he may, at any time, withdraw his consent, without compromising the lawfulness of the treatment carried out based on the previously given consent.

The holder of personal data also has the right to be notified in case of violation of personal data, in accordance and under the terms of the RGPD.
