Course Objectives

Physical Asset Management has evolved from Maintenance Management to a holistic approach, which is
particularly important for the performance of any organization and specially for organizations with intensive investments in physical assets. This is why more and more professionals around the world are working on asset management and the development of new models and concepts, including engineering solutions and integrated strategic asset management, aiming to find the best solutions to meet the nature and the challenges of organizations and society.
It is now recognized that Asset Management is a key point for the role of leadership in the development of organizations, and the implementation of asset management in organizations is an evidence required by the PAS 55 and ISO 55000/1/2 standards.

Access Conditions

a) Holders of a bachelor degree or equivalent, awarded by a national higher education institution, in the area of Industrial Engineering and Management or in related areas of science and technology; b) Holders of a foreign academic degree or equivalent, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process, in the area of Industrial Engineering and Management or in related areas of science and technology; c) Holders of a foreign or national academic degree recognized by the Technical and Scientific Council as meeting the objectives of the degree of bachelor in the area of Industrial Engineering and Management or in related areas of science and technology; d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized by the Technical and Scientific Council as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies.

This Master’s Course in Engineering and Management of Physical Assets aims to provide its graduates with high level training and ability to act in a broad vision in the area of Physical Assets, to serve products and services industries, such as horeca, hospital, transportation, food, chemical, oil & gas, among others. Some of the aspects that stand out are the Maintenance Management, the support technologies for management, Metrology, cross infection in Physical Assets, as well as in the related algorithmic, technological and international support.
Future graduates will be able to respond to the organizations’ future perspective, increasingly based on physical assets, accelerated by industry 4.0, where the concepts of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Life Cycle Investment (LCI) are, more and more, a structuring strand.
