The objective of the Curricular Unit is to acquire skills with regard to Safety and Hygiene and Health when carrying out professional activity, namely knowledge of applicable legislation, the correct identification and use of protective equipment and the preparation of Safety Plans. It is therefore intended that the student, after teaching at the UC, has acquired skills that allow them to collaborate in the definition of the company’s general policy regarding risk prevention with the planning and implementation of the corresponding prevention and management system, in the development of processes of professional risk assessment, in the design, programming and development of prevention and protection measures and in the technical coordination of safety, health and hygiene activities.
Program
Fundamentals of Hygiene and Health, safety costs versus workplace accident costs, meaning and importance of prevention.
National and Community legislation and regulations. Statistics of work accidents.
Safety signage. Individual and collective protective equipment.
Identification of work risks, physical, chemical, natural, biological, environmental, psychosocial, fire and ergonomic risks.
Work risk assessment criteria. Prevention actions, concept, types of actions and criteria for defining prevention actions.
Implementation and evaluation of prevention actions. Safety and Hygiene Plans. Safety procedure sheets.
Professional risk quantification methods: MARAT method and William method. Differentiation.
