The FCT (technical training component) or internship, aims to promote student participation in the life of the Host Entity in order to identify, study and propose improvements regarding:

• To the acquisition of technical and sociological skills by the student in the performance of tasks and in the relationship with the people of the organization that hosted him;
• The application, testing and training of methodologies developed in the general and scientific training component and in the technical training component, corresponding to the teaching part of the CTeSP;
• The identification of employment opportunities during the FCT;
• Adoption, design, or participation in the implementation of solutions inherent to the course contents;
• To the development of tasks inherent to the themes of the CTeSP, namely:
• Application of general, scientific and technical knowledge acquired by the student in the teaching training component;
• The development of technical, relational and organizational skills relevant to the performance profile defined for the CTeSP;
• To the development of tasks and/or functions framed in the competences contained in the training plan.

The professional internship may be proposed by teachers, by a company or institution or by the student. Each internship is assigned an academic advisor, according to the area involved, who will support the student through tutorial guidance throughout the academic period, and a supervisor from the company or institution who will support the student in integrating into the work environment. The student, advisor and supervisor will agree on a work plan for the internship that is subject to approval by the scientific body. The work plan must be harmonized with at least 6 of the 10 main activities described below. The internship must lead to the production of an internship report.

Main activities:

1. Install, configure and maintain industrial robotic systems;
2. Setting up, configuring, and maintaining other automated systems;
3. Programming equipment according to the technical characteristics of the product;
4. Configuring data communication networks according to the specific requirements of each project;
5. Coordinate, supervise and/or use simulation, test and measurement instruments;
6. Elaborate, develop and execute maintenance programs and plans;
7. Manage interventions in case of anomalies and/or malfunctions in order to assist production
8. Plan, coordinate, supervise and/or perform technical specifications and quality control of product, materials or production technologies designed from the results of study, experimentation and testing of prototypes
9. Coordinate and manage problems in manufacturing systems;
10. Plan, coordinate, supervise and / or update the technical information considered relevant by the management of the company.

The FCT  (technical training component)  evaluation is a quantitative assessment on a scale of 0 to 20 points. The student's evaluation will be assigned according to the work plan and respective execution rate, being registered in the FCT Internship Report Card. The evaluation of the FCT component will result from the following formula
AFCT = (AT x 0.5) + (AR x 0.25) + (APP x 0.25) in which:

AT - Evaluation of the student by the Supervisor of the host entity in agreement with the supervisor;
RA - Evaluation of the written report;
APP - Evaluation of the public examination of the presentation and defense of the internship report provided by the student;
