Course Objectives
The advance of knowledge, the growing demand for quality in the provision of care in the pharmacy area, justifies this cycle of studies, which aims to: • Deepen knowledge in the field of Pharmacotherapy that promote the rational use of medicines; • Provide advanced training that allows a specialized approach in the area of pharmacotherapeutic care; • Develop skills of analysis, evaluation and application of knowledge in professional practice; • Allow the dissemination and systematization of advanced knowledge, centered on the patient, their follow-up and monitoring of drug therapy, as well as the evaluation of their results; • Provide the deepening of knowledge and skills that form the basis of development or application, centered on hospital or community intervention; • Deepen the understanding of research methodologies, design and analysis of studies, framed in the professional activity; • Develop the articulation between the different levels of health care according to the needs and priorities that present the most prevalent chronic pathologies; • Facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and strategies for effective communication between the patient and the health professional.
Access Conditions
In accordance with the Academic Regulation 2nd cycle of studies courses of IPC, can apply for access to the cycle of studies leading to a master’s degree:
a) Holders of a degree in Pharmacy or other courses in the health or life sciences or legal equivalent;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a first cycle of studies in Pharmacy organized according to the principles of the Bologna process by a state adhering to this process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by the ESTeSC-IPC technical-scientific council as satisfying the objectives of the degree in pharmacy;
d) Holder of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized by the scientific technical council of ESTeSC-IPC, attesting to the ability to carry out the course.
The recognition referred to in paragraphs b), c) and d), has only the effect of accessing the cycle of studies leading to the Master’s degree in Pharmacy, not granting the holder the equivalence to the degree of licentiate or the recognition of that degree.

Learning Objectives
The degree will be awarded to students who demonstrate: • Ability to promote the rational use of the medicine; • Knowledge related to prevention, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation through the use of medicines; • Skills to ensure dispensing, information and advice, on the rational use of medicines, to users and health professionals, in accordance with good practices; • Ability to identify and solve community problems regarding the use of medicines; • Ability to identify and critically analyze the problems arising from the exercise of their professional activity, to plan and implement strategies for their resolution; • Ability to communicate technical-scientific findings, results and underlying reasoning, addressed to specialists and non-specialists, in a clear and objective way; • Skills for the development of lifelong learning, in an autonomous and self-oriented way.
Access to Superior Studies
The master degree allows the application to postgraduate studies.
