Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is that students acquire a specialized training of professional nature, allowing them to perform their activity, with a high level of competence, in one of the areas of specialization under this master: “Construction and Maintenance of Mechanical Equipment” or “Project, Installation and Maintenance of Thermal Systems”. In both specializations, the adopted training profile has a well-defined professional nature, trying to meet the needs and demands of the market in the two areas, which include a wide range of companies, from multiple sectors of economic activity. This MSc course aims to train staff with ability to participate in the design and innovation of products and systems, and adequately prepared to assume responsibility for coordination and supervision in the areas of manufacturing, installation and maintenance, with aptitude for continuous improvement throughout their career.
The Master in mechanical engineering is divided into the areas: Specialization in Construction and Maintenance of Mechanical Equipments and Specialization in Project, Installation and Maintenance of Thermal Systems. The Master has duration of 2 years, is organised into 4 semesters and presents a curricular structure with 120 credit units. This course integrates in the first year a specialization course consisting of 10 curricular units (60 ECTS). The second year is entirely dedicated to the realization of a project, a thesis or an internship (60 ECTS).
Obtaining the qualification implies the development and public examination of a project work, a dissertation or an internship report.
