Course Objectives
Currently, an informative survey that seeks data on the industry related to electronic games will allow for the reinforcement of the perception of an enormous dimension of a market that continues to grow. It is also notable, informally, the growing curiosity of civil society and numerous professional classes (educational, managerial, in the areas of marketing and communication, etc.) in the face of the emergence of electronic forms of competition and the growth that the social presence of competitive gaming has registered.
As Gaming is a new reality in our country (pointing to the beginning of its contemporary development in mid-2015), it presents unique characteristics with regard to its commercial management and development of related businesses. But that’s not all: it also represents an area with several professional opportunities for Portuguese youth (whether through the creation of their own jobs or through the acquisition of skills sought after in various sectors of the job market).
As if the arguments presented above were not enough, the recent need for traditional/classic sports to resort to innovative mechanisms for relating to sports fans, as well as the growing focus, even in terms of Olympic sports, on the virtualization of competitive activities, is an additional reason for investing in this field of training (in sports/event management).
It remains to create “academic products” that meet the academic curiosity and contemporary student needs.
